What a teaser! That was an excellent little preview, because this book has it all! A cup and a half of suspense, three quarters a cup of action, a teaspoon of romance, half a cup of gore, and one ripe, thrilling plot line. And now, not only is her reputation on the line, but her very life may hang in the balance. But as Eleanor spends more time with the Spirit-Hunters, including the maddeningly stubborn yet handsome Daniel, the situation becomes more dire. If Eleanor is going to find him, she'll have to venture into the lab of the notorious Spirit-Hunters, who protect the city from supernatural forces. Whoever is controlling the Dead army has taken her brother as well. But this is nothing compared to what she's just read in the newspaper -Īnd then, in a frightening attack, a zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor. Her brother has gone missing, her family has fallen on hard times, and her mother is determined to marry her off to any rich young man who walks by.

So, I took that dream and crafted the Spirit-Hunters. In particular, there was an Asian girl and an African American boy. The team had lots of gadgets and a cool lab, and the team’s members were of various ages/nationalities. I dreamed my brother went missing, so I turned to a ghost-hunting team for help. Yeah, it doesn’t get much more cliche than that, does it?

So…where did Something Strange and Deadly came from? Well, I finally decided to just write it all out coherently.īut if I’m going to be totally honest with you, I have to admit that the idea for and gradual creation of Something Strange and Deadly was pretty rambling–I was, after all, a total NOOB to writing when I started this project. My usual response involves a rambling, convoluted explanation about planets aligning, mystical dreams, and goat sacrifices. It should come as no surprise that sometimes people ask me where I came up with the idea for Something Strange and Deadly.
